A fresh poll conducted by the Pollster investigation Institute commissioned by the “Super Express” revealed that as many as 53% of Poles are in favour of joining the European Union. In turn, 47% of respondents disagreed on this step. These results are very interesting, especially in the context of Russian aggression against Ukraine, which took place in February 2022.

Since then, the political situation in the region has changed significantly. In June 2022, a fewer months after Russian aggression, Ukraine received the position of a candidate for membership of the European Union. This event was a immense step towards European integration and the enlargement of the Community to a fresh member. Unfortunately, however, negotiations have not truly begun since then.

In this context, the Sangat declarations of Prime Minister Donald Tusk are interesting, who after talks with the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenski in Warsaw announced a break in impasse in these talks during the Polish Presidency. This commitment is very important, especially in view of the fact that Poland is 1 of the largest allies of Ukraine in the European Union.

The survey conducted by the Pollster investigation Institute on 17-18 January this year on a example of 1004 adult Poles by the CAWI method shows that Poles are divided in the question of Ukraine's accession to the European Union. However, these results are very crucial due to the fact that they show that most Poles are in favour of European integration and enlargement of the Community with a fresh member.

It is worth noting that the European Union is 1 of the most crucial economical partners of Poland, and European integration is 1 of the most crucial objectives of our country's abroad policy. The accession of Ukraine to the European Union can so have a very affirmative impact on the Polish economy and global relations.

According to Eurostat data, abroad trade between Poland and Ukraine in 2022 amounted to over EUR 10 billion. These are very large amounts that show that economical relations between our countries are already very strict.

Therefore, the accession of Ukraine to the European Union could lead to further increased trade and investment between our countries. This in turn can contribute to economical improvement and raising the standard of surviving in both Poland and Ukraine.

It is worth noting that the process of joining the European Union is very complex and long-term. It requires many conditions and criteria, specified as political stability, security, protection of human rights and the regulation of law.

Therefore, Poland should support Ukraine in its accession to the European Union, especially in the context of economical and method assistance. This could aid velocity up the accession process and address common challenges.

In conclusion, the accession of Ukraine to the European Union is simply a very crucial step towards European integration and the enlargement of the Community to a fresh member. Poland should support Ukraine in this process, especially in the context of economical and method assistance. This can contribute to economical improvement and raising the standard of surviving in both Poland and Ukraine.
