In an historical decision, the United States ultimate Court confirmed the South Carolina State's right to exclude Planned Parenthood organization from the Medicaid program, funded from public funds.
The Court of First Instance decided after a long-term legal conflict in which Planned Parenthood attempted to competition the decision of the state authorities to block Medicaid funds for their facilities. The State of South Carolina argued that it has the right to decide which entities may receive public funds for the provision of wellness services – and that it has no work to support institutions that offer abortions.

“This is simply a large triumph for anyone who believes that life is God’s holy gift. Reinhardt besides stressed that this ruling should give impetus to state and national legislators to redirect public funds to institutions that actually support pregnant women without offering "solutions" in the form of abortion. He pointed to thousands of pro-life centers throughout the United States that offer comprehensive, respectful and empathetic aid to both mothers and their children.
