Two Faces of Władysław Gomulka

On February 6, 1905, Władysław Gomulka was born. In my opinion, the most crucial leader of the period of People's Poland.

Polish communist, patriot, sanatorium prisoner, prisoner of the Bermanovian period and symbol of its end. I Secretary of the KC PPR (1943–1948), I Secretary of the KC PZPR (1956–1970), from 1945–1949 I Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Earth Recovered. associate of the National Council, the Legislative Sejm and the Parliament of the Polish People's Republic II, III, IV and V term. associate of the State Council from 1957 to 1971. Builder of People's Poland. He died in 1982. Gomulku is 1 of the most unfairly judged Polish politicians of the 20th century. For decades in a pardonless and rude way attacked by the Adversary.

When talking about Gomułka, it is worth remembering that almost 54 years ago, the agreement on normalization of relations between Poland and Germany was signed in Warsaw (7.XII.1970). This is simply a very crucial event, practically silenced today. It is authoritative that both countries had virtually no diplomatic relations. At the time Poland was fortunate that Germany was ruled by social democrats with their Ostpolitik (opening to east European countries). It should besides be remembered that in the summertime of 1970 Brandt signed a treaty with the russian Union.
This arrangement was the most crucial part of the full designation of the Polish border on Oder and Nysa Lužická. Article I read, "The national Republic of Germany and the Polish People's Republic agree that the existing border line, the course of which is set in Chapter IX of the provisions of the Potsdam Conference of 2 August 1945 from the Baltic Sea straight west of Świnoujście and hence along the river Odra to the place where Nysa Łużycka falls, and along Nysa Lužická to the border with Czechoslovakia, constitutes the western state border of the Polish People's Republic". Władysław Gomulka was a immense success. Although he himself said, “This is my success, this is your success, all those who cooperated.” 1 must remember that the PAX Bolesław Piasecki and another Catholic centres in the Polish People's Republic of Poland did excellent work on this subject for many months.

The German right with the CDU and the Exile Unions was furious at Chancellor Brandt's east policy. They have challenged the Treaty to the Constitutional Court. The German Constitution referred to the existing 1937 borders. However, the proposal was rejected (with a bend of law), and the Bundestag ratified the treaty in May 1972.

Gomulku was a Communist, but above all he was a patriot who understood the importance of the nation. Remember this quote: “The Sanation has set up an anti-Soviet nation... The fact that borders change besides has an impact on expanding distrust. It's not easy. We are Marxists, we can realize a number of phenomena, but the average Pole assumes that Russia took a large part of the land. This fact is crucial and profound. The errors made by the russian authorities towards Poles – exports – have besides led to the formation of this opinion (...) the enthusiastic moods of society to the Red Army are falling heavy (...) With these sentiments, we are in danger of being accused of russian agents, that there may be isolation. The masses should respect us as a Polish party, let us act as Polish communists, NOT AS AGENTURE!" (CPR gathering protocol, May 1945.)
