
Donald Tusk has announced a change in proceedings regarding border situations. The Prime Minister announced that temporary checks would be introduced at border crossing points linking Poland with Germany and Lithuania.
On Tuesday morning, there was a gathering with Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Minister Tomasz Siemoniak, Head of Border Guard, Polish Army and Police Command. The situation at the Polish borders was discussed during the meeting.
The Head of Government reported that the SG's request to temporarily reconstruct border control was besides being considered. “We made a decision and I wanted to inform the public that we are restoring temporary control on the Polish border with Germany and Poland with Lithuania”, he said.
Tusk explains the decision
The decision announced by Tusk will enter into force on 7 July. In explaining his step, Tusk explained that the full process requires “regrouping” and “organizing-logistic preparation”.
In the further part of Tusk's speech, he pointed out that the practice on the border had changed for respective weeks. “The German side refuses to let migrants from different directions to Germany, as it has been for about 10 years, seeking asylum. I warned that this patient position of Poland is exhausted. We consider it essential to introduce inspections – he noted.
