Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the end of the era of “scientific globalisation” and the beginning of the era of “economic nationalism”.
"Today Poland, Europe and the full planet are in a situation where we request to be able to talk out loud and make it clear that those who draw the right conclusions from what is happening around us will survive, win, win for their country, for their company, for their family, for their citizens. This is the right time to say clearly and decisively that the era of naive globalisation is ending," said Tusk, speaking at the fresh Technologies Forum in Warsaw.
He announced that Poland would no longer be a "naked partner" in competing on global markets.
"We request to say loud and clear that if we want to accomplish economical success, if we want to build a safe state, we request to say loud and clear to ourselves and to others that Poland will not be a naive partner in this increasingly fierce egoistic competition on planet markets, that Polish companies will not stand in a losing position in competition with global giants," said the Prime Minister.
However, he pointed out that he did not object to the definition of "economic nationalism" as regards the proposed economical approach.
"Time to rebuild the national economy, time to repolonize the Polish economy, the market, capital. Capital has nationality, economy has nationality. The manager of a state-owned company has a nationality. Our interests are white and red (colours of the Polish flag – red). Does anyone call that economical nationalism? Please. I have no problem with that," Tusk said.
