Three Phenys by Andrzej Liang: “Politics” went wrong

It's been a long time since anyone has raised me as much force as my favourite weekly magazine “Politics”. The article was published in an article that misleads readers and takes them lightly.

The author of the text is editor J. Winiecki, and it was published under the title “China wants to mediate between Russia and Ukraine. This is simply a fresh war stage, the stakes are huge.”

In the article we will find specified a conviction (screen above):

"At the June G7 Xi Group summit, he was to give president Volodymyr Zelensk his word of honour that he would not send the weapon to Putin."

O tempora, o mores! How could president Xi JinPing have made specified a promise under the circumstances described, since he was not present at the G7 summit. And since he wasn't there, so he couldn't just meet with president Zelenski there, but with any other, any individual he wanted. To remind you: China, the second planet economy, is not part of the G7 group. This organization comprises Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.

President Xi was not even invited to the June G7 summit. But that's not a problem for editor Winiecki. At 1 time, in editorial offices, the text was corrected, verified, asked questions by the editor liable for the issue. present less, or more compact sentences are thrown on the Internet, like meat in a meat grinder. Sometimes a good cutlet comes out of it, but increasingly not the best meatballs.

If specified basic errors are manufactured by an opinionary weekly, claiming to be an elite periodical, I am not amazed that its readers have distorted, false, unreliable opinions about China. This is absolutely not about the glorification of China, but about the specified journalistic integrity: showing China as it is. Presenting honest facts alternatively of cutting half-truths so that they fit the thesis, or the ideological line of sponsors and advertisers. For 50 years, “Politics” has been an exceptional weekly for me due to content, authors of articles, columnaries. However, something has changed, something has “torn”.

Too bad.

PS: This is not an isolated case, unfortunately.
