On Tuesday, on social media Rafał Trzaskowski's individual data of Mr Jerzy – the man from whom Karol Nawrocki was to get the apartment. Among another things, his name, information about the Social Services home where he resides was revealed. This publication sparked a reaction from the Office for individual Data Protection (UODO).


The spokesperson for the institution, Karol Witowski, stated in an interview with Virtual Poland that the case would be investigated ex officio. In the assessment of the UODO, there was a breach of the provisions on the protection of individual data, which is why this case was besides covered by the proceedings initiated ex officio.

The Office for individual Data Protection besides published a message entitled "Electoral run does not exempt from the protection of individual data". president of UODO, Mirosław Wróblewski, made an appeal to all candidates and their committees. He recalled that the fight for the highest office in the country could not take place at the expense of citizens' privacy.

"Being a public person, especially a candidate for the president of the Republic of Poland, does not exempt from the principles of individual data protection. On the contrary, politicians should set an example and apply the highest standards in this area", stressed the authoritative UODO Communication.

Disclosure of data in the run – the limits have been exceeded?

Mr. George's individual data disclosure became another hot place in the ongoing presidential campaign. In the atmosphere of increasing tension and media disputes between candidates, experts remind that citizens' privacy must stay outside the sphere of political struggle. Officials stress that all case of infringement will be analysed in item and can consequence in legal consequences.
