The candidate for president Rafał Trzaskowski did not sign an eight-point declaration prepared by Sławomir Mentzen, who in the first circular of the election won a 3rd consequence as a Confederate candidate. Politicians agreed in 4 out of 8 points of the declaration.
"I will not sign anything due to the fact that I am not Karol Nawrocki," declared Trzaskowski in a Saturday conversation on YouTube, which took place in a studio in Toruń.
Politicians agreed in 4 points of the declaration that Mentzen proposed, calling it "torunian". Trzaskowski agreed not to sign tax-raising laws. He declared that he would not let Polish soldiers to be sent to Ukraine. Nor will he agree to reduce access to cash and tighten up the rules on arms ownership.
Trzaskowski unequivocally declared, contrary to Mentzen's demands, that he was in favour of accepting Ukraine for NATO. Politicians have not reached agreement on 2 issues – the transfer of EU competences and fresh treaties. They besides disagree on laws limiting freedom of expression. Trzaskowski emphasized very powerfully that he has always been a large opponent of the hatred speech he wants and will fight.
Trzaskowski was asked by Mentzen, among others, whether – as president – he would not sign any law limiting Poles' access to arms. "Is that an idea? due to the fact that I didn't hear it," the KO candidate replied.
Trzaskowski besides said that he did not agree to the introduction of specified a strategy of access to arms as is in force in the United States. "I am not in favour of access to weapons being as easy as in the United States," he stressed. He gave an example of the usage of weapons in the United States by children in schools.
The candidate of the KO for president was besides asked if he would sign ratification of any fresh EU treaties weakening Poland's role, specified as taking distant the right of veto.
Trzaskowski said that erstwhile it comes to abroad policy, the rule of unanimity should be maintained here. "Because we have mechanisms like constructive abstaining. On the question of whether as president he will sign a law limiting freedom of expression in accordance with the Polish Constitution, Trzaskowski stated that "we are talking about freedom of expression, which is 1 of the most crucial values, but on the another hand we are talking about the issue of, for example, hatred speech, which is simply forbidden".
"Of course, there is no approval for anyone to call to hatred... What is different is the comment on something, and what is different is the call to hate, that individual needs to be hurt, for example" - said the candidate KO. He added that it is the courts who find whether there is anything or is not a speech of hatred. Responding to whether he would have signed specified a bill, Trzaskowski replied that he was in favour of tightening the rules on this matter. "I will always fight the speech of hate," he said.
Trzaskowski besides spoke about ratification of Ukraine's accession to NATO. "I like Putin to knock out all his teeth in Ukraine and not in Poland," he said, "I am in favour of Ukraine being part of Europe, not of Putin's hands. Putin understands only the language of strength, and only then will he not proceed the war... if there are safety guarantees. If they're gone, especially American, Putin will arm himself and attack again. If he sees that we are weak, there is simply a threat that he will go further.” He argued that the North Atlantic Alliance and European defence capabilities had to be strengthened.
Mentzen summarizing the discussion of all 8 points of his declaration, said that Trzaskowski agrees with four. erstwhile asked if he would sign under these 4 points, Trzaskowski said he would not. “I will not sign anything due to the fact that I am not Karol Nawrocki,” said Trzaskowski. "Why signatures, there are declarations," he added.
Mentzen besides asked Trzaskowski whether there should be more rules on "stacking entrepreneurs", specified as, in his opinion, provisions on reporting in companies on environmental and social impacts.
Trzaskowski stated that "reporting to tiny and medium-sized companies should be importantly limited". As he estimated, for large companies, it should proceed to exist. When asked about the Green Deal candidate KO said, "it is not in the form he was in." He explained that the problem for farmers was the issue of fallowing, reporting and regulation in terms of pesticide use. "After talking to farmers, after listening to their demands, all 3 things changed" - he stressed. "Just as we have led to the fact that on 5 June there will be no flood of Ukrainian goods throughout the European market, not only Polish, which will lead to price stability" - he added.
Trzaskowski, asked whether he maintained the opinion that "the worst thing that can happen is the president and Prime Minister from 1 party", said he did not think so. "The situation is completely different," he said, "Andrzej Duda signs everything Kaczyński gives him to sign, and I will not sign everything," he said.
When asked by Mentzen, what would change in Polish politics if it was Trzaskowski who won the election, candidate KO replied: "The end of dualism in the area of justice, that even you do not know whether a given ruling is issued in accordance with the law and constitution".
Addressing Mentzen's voters, the KO presidential candidate assured: "I will always look for what connects, but I will be principled in those matters that are most crucial to us."
"Today we are faced with a very simple choice: you can choose the president, whom you know all about, you know his views, who were overseen by all possible services and who testified with his life that he was an honest person. On the another side is simply a person, unfortunately, about whom we learn about fresh facts.” “The most crucial thing is whether we are focusing on the future or whether we will look back at each another at all times,” said the president of Warsaw.
Trzaskowski was besides asked if he intended to depenalize marijuana. "The problem present is synthetic drugs. I'm not for decriminalization, but I'm for not chasing kids for having 1 joint." erstwhile asked by Mentzen, he admitted that "as a kid" he had "with herb to deal with", however, he noted that he did not take alleged "hard drugs". A group of Law and Justice sympathizers was waiting for the candidate, who had with them blown sharks to mention to a fragment of the interview-reka with Trzaskowski, in which he talked about swimming with sharks. There was besides “Zorro” who referred to the character who put up a banner at the rally in Tarnów. The opponents of the candidate KO shouted, among others, "with a sickle, erstwhile with a hammer, red riffraff"; supporters of Trzaskowski chanted, among others, "Poland all over Rafał".
