Trump considers buying a stake in Intel and calls for the president to resign

U.S. president Donald Trump's administration talks with Intel on a possible acquisition by the U.S. government of a stake in the company to support the construction of a delayed chip mill complex in Ohio, – informs Bloomberg. The size of the possible investment has not yet been established and the task has been delayed for respective years.

Political force on Intel

The talks coincided with Trump's public call for the immediate resignation of Lip-Bu Tan's CEO due to his ties to China. Reuters reported that Tan had invested at least USD 200 million in Chinese technology companies, including military-related ones.

Market reaction

After information about the possible investment, Intel's shares increased by 8.9%, and after Trump's message fell by about 2%. A possible agreement could strengthen the financial condition of a company that reduces costs, reduces employment and loses its position on the chip marketplace for TSMC and Nvidia.
