US president Donald Trump reported on social media that he had a telephone conversation with Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko. As he pointed out, during the conference they discussed, among others, the issue of the release of further political prisoners and the Friday gathering with Russian president Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
“I had a wonderful conversation with the respected president of Belarus Alaxandr Lukashenko. The intent of the conversation was to thank him for releasing 16 prisoners. We besides discuss The release of another 1,300 prisoners“ – Trump wrote in an entry on the fact Social platform.
“Our conversation was very successful. We have raised many topics, including president Putin's visit to Alaska. I look forward to gathering president Lukashenko in the future. Thank you for your interest in this matter!" added the American President.
Belarusian media: Lukashenko invited Trump to Minsk, and the US president accepted the invitation
The Belt Agency has stated that Lukashenko invited Trump and his household to Minsk, and this invitation was accepted by the American President.
The leaders' talk took place hours before the planned gathering of Russian and US presidents at Elemondorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage, Alaska.
The spokesperson for the Kremlin Dmitri Pieskov reported that Putin's plane is scheduled to land at 11:00 a.m. local time (21:00 a.m. Polish time). Donald Trump, who left for Anchorage this morning, welcomes him. The talks will be attended by many delegations from both sides, including defence, finance and abroad affairs ministers.
