Difficult talks with Ukraine?
During another ceremony of signing decrees, Donald Trump referred to ongoing talks regarding the termination of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Although he assessed the Wednesday talks with Ukrainian representatives in London as successful, he suggested that it was the Ukrainian side that is now the main obstacle to reaching an agreement ending the conflict.
I think Russia is ready... quite a few people said Russia wanted to take everything, but I think we have a deal with Russia. We request to make a deal with Zelenski. I thought things would be easier with Zelenski, but so far it's been harder. But that's okay, I think we'll have an agreement with both sides.
The U.S. President, erstwhile asked about the anticipation of recognizing Russian sovereignty over Crimea, did not give a clear answer, simply stating that "all is well."
Potential gathering date
Trump announced the anticipation of gathering Vladimir Putin in May, although he pointed out that it would most likely not be held in Saudi Arabia, where it would go on 13 May. The gathering with Putin is to take place “soon afterwards”.
With respect to the possible gathering with Volodymyr Zelenski in Rome, connected with the ceremony of Pope Francis, Trump stated that he did not know if the Ukrainian president would come, but expressed his hope that the issue of an agreement with Russia could be resolved.
If both sides are happy, if they want to sign the agreement... I have no favorites, I will not favour anyone. I want a deal. I want to save lives – stated the president of the United States.
It wasn't without attacking Joe Biden, either. Trump reminded him of the usage of the "hundreds of billions" to aid Ukraine, while stressing that Biden should not have allowed it.
