After the end of the war, Polish authorities in exile and Polish Red Cross began searching for children "stealed" by the Nazis. In Austria and Italy there were peculiar teams of the 2nd Polish Corps, which found minors and organized their evacuation. At the same time, the Polish community in Spain, despite the hard political and social conditions under General Franco's dictatorship, took the initiative to make a care centre for Polish orphans.
