Goods originating in Ukraine were not allowed on the Polish market. IJHARS detected irregularities due to the content of frozen fruit extract. Pixels, illustration photoThe Lublin branch of the Agricultural and Food Quality Inspection (IJHARS) stopped the transport of more than 2 tonnes of frozen fruit from Ukraine. As it turned out, the goods did not meet the declared parameters concerning the extract content. The decision was given the rigor of immediate feasibility, meaning that the product cannot be placed on the marketplace in Poland.
The cargo from Ukraine contained frozen blackcurrants. The mistake was the discrepancy between the actual content of the extract and the value declared for the product by the manufacturer. As a consequence of the inspection findings, the inspection prohibited the full organization from entering the Polish market.
Goods from Ukraine and China most frequently questioned by IJHARS. 56 batches of products have not been authorised since the beginning of the year.
According to IJHARS statistics, 35 decisions were issued in the first half of 2026 prohibiting the placing on the marketplace of 56 consignments of products originating in 3rd countries. The majority of irregularities were detected in goods from Ukraine and China – after 7 decisions. India and Vietnam – after 3 decisions – and Argentina, South Africa (RPA), Turkey, Brazil and Thailand with 2 decisions to ban the placing on the Polish marketplace of goods from these countries.
Among the products most frequently contested were fruit products, eggs, vegetable products, beverages, wine and beer.
Inspection of the Trade Quality of Agricultural and Food Products supervises the commercial quality of food in Poland. It controls, inter alia, the labelling, composition and quality of food products and checks whether the information provided to consumers complies with the rules. If irregularities are detected, IJHARS may impose sanctions – for example, as in the above-mentioned case, prevent the product from being placed on the home market.
