Transhipments at the Port of Gdańsk. Ambitious plans for 2024

The port of Gdańsk intends to increase the transhipment to 86.8 million tonnes in 2024. This is 7.2 percent more than last year, erstwhile 81 million tonnes were transhipped. These forecasts consequence from an analysis of the economical situation and information from port operators. The possibilities for transhipment in Port Gdańsk are almost 100 million tonnes.

Particular attention should be paid to the projected increases in cargo groups specified as grain, wood, liquid fuels and tiny quantities. In the case of grain, the forecast increase is as advanced as 85.2%, while liquid fuels are expected to increase by 53.4%. Wood will increase by 19.5% and tiny by 4.5%.

On the another hand, the forecasts foretell declines in cargo groups specified as ore and another mass groups. The Ruda is expected to evidence a decrease of 34.2% and another mass by 22.4 percent.

Carbon handling stability

Transhipment at Port Gdańsk – capacity

In 2023 Port Gdańsk reached a capacity of 93.9 million tonnes. From this, the external port could handle 74.5 million tonnes and the interior port could handle 19.4 million tonnes. In fact, 81 million tonnes were transhipped, an increase of 12.7 million tonnes compared to 2022.

Finally, the Treasury holds 95.57 percent of the shares of the Port of Gdańsk. The municipality has 2.32% and individuals 2.11%.
