Twelve people were killed at night from 15 to 16 August 2026 in the case of a Polish coach on the M3 motorway in Hungary, close Mezőkeresztes. Pilgrims from Podkarpacia, returning from Bosnia and Herzegovina, drove the vehicle. president Karol Nawrocki and Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed their condolences to the families of the victims.
The countrymen returned from their pilgrimage
The Polish coach fell out of the road on the Hungarian M3 motorway around 1 a.m. According to information provided by Polish and abroad media, 57 passengers and 2 drivers were travelling in a vehicle. 12 people died and at least 10 were seriously injured.
It's a tragedy where language has to go to the another end. The most crucial are the families of the victims, the wounded and those who are waiting for confirmed information. At specified times, the state has 1 responsibility: to act calmly, efficiently and without chaos.
According to Local Government Portal, the event occurred in the area of Mezőkeresztes. Hungarian services carried out a rescue operation and Polish consular services stay in contact with Hungarian authorities.
The president and the Prime Minister's condolences
The President's Office informedThat Charles Nawrocki offered his condolences to the families and close victims. The president emphasized prayer and compassion towards those affected by the tragedy.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk besides expressed his sympathy to the families killed and thanked the Hungarian services for the rescue effort. We request officials, doctors and consuls with the victims.

Families should be based on service communications, not on accidental social media coverage.
The government announced to send a peculiar aircraft to Hungary with representatives of medical services and diplomacy. This is the right direction: families are entitled to clear information, and injured people are entitled to aid without bureaucratic delay.
It's time for quiet and honest.
The causes of the disaster are determined by appropriate services. You can't replace an investigation with conjecture. You request to check the condition of the vehicle, the working time of the drivers, the course of the way and all the circumstances of night driving. This is the only way to give justice to victims and reduce the hazard of further tragedies.
They were Polish pilgrims returning home. Behind each number is someone's name, family, parish, village. The Polish national community besides recognizes its seriousness after acting in the face of the pain of its own citizens. Now we request prayer, aid and truth.
