According to the Minister of Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysza a.k.a. "Tygrysek", Poland should start building bunkers and tank ditches along the border with Russia and Belarus, as should the Baltic countries.

On Thursday, during a speech on Radio ZET, Minister of National Defence, besides Deputy Prime Minister, was asked whether Poland should take action to build bunkers, ditches and trenches along the border with Belarus and Russia.

‘Yes’, the Deputy Prime Minister confirmed. He asked why Poland is not doing so yet, since the Baltic states are already in the process of working, he replied: "We are preparing the full plan".

“I mean, we do it in fact. I consider this question a small broader, as strengthening the border," said the head of the MON.

“We fix the barrier on the Polish-Belarusian border, we strengthen this dam. There is simply a military group all the time located in Podlasie, Lublin, Mazowieckie, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, supporting the Border Guard, i.e. the presence of troops and expenses associated with this are the highest in past in 2024" - he noted.

Kosiniaka-Kamisha was asked about the construction of bunkers. "Let us not bring this to 1 action, but a holistic strengthening action," he replied.

"The presence of troops, allied troops, counteracting any anticipation or hindering mobility, and specified a plan is being prepared," added the politician.

Recently, Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz proposed to allocate over EUR 400 billion from the EU pandemic fund for the improvement of the defence manufacture to further aid Ukraine.

At the end of January, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania agreed to build a Baltic defensive line to strengthen their borders with Belarus and Russia. The concept of defence installations is based on decisions taken at the NATO Summit in Madrid, which item that allies must be ready to defend the territory from the first metro and fresh regional defence plans must be developed.

A network of bunkers, support points and supply lines will be created. As we wrote a week ago, the Latvian army began digging anti-tank ditches along the border with Russia. It's part of the first line of defence along this border.

In the next stage, the anti-tank ditches will be reinforced with alleged dragon teeth. Latvia is building a chain of reinforcements along the border with Russia and Belarus, consisting of various obstacles. The first line is built close the Terehova border crossing in the municipality of Ludza, about a kilometer from the Russian border. The first section of the fortifications, numbering 20 km, is to be completed within 4 months. The dimension of the Latvian-Russian border is over 283 km.
