On Sunday the streets of Warsaw will pass the National March of Life under the motto “Here is Poland!”. This year's edition of the event has a double purpose: to remind about constitutional protection of life and to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of Bolesław Chrobry's coronation. The organizers announce that the march will not only be an expression of the defence of life from conception, but besides a mention to the glorious traditions of Poland.
Masses and way of the march
March ahead Holy Mass in the interests of the protection of life which will take place in:
- Architectural Basilica of St. John the Baptist Martyr,
- Basilica of the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Florian the Martyr.
Participants will leave 12:30 from Castle Square, traversing Royal Treaty direction Edward Rydz-Smigular Marshal Park.
Why is this march important?
Lidia Sankowska-Grabczuk, 1 of the organizers, emphasises:
"This year, in a peculiar way, we mention to the millennium of Bolesław Chrobry's coronation. We want to mention to the themes related to the glorious moments of Polish history, but besides to clearly and decisively inform politicians that we will defend human life from conception to natural death”.
He besides adds that without the protection of life and household values Poland loses its identity:
"Without maintaining national identity, without reminding about patriotic values, household values and the request to defend life from conception to natural death as a nation, we have no right to be".
Abortion and Polish law – controversy
Organizers pay attention to an expanding threat to unborn life. Sankowska-Grabczuk indicates abortion by Abortion Dream Team close the Sejm:
"Point +Abotak+ has been in operation since 8 March. There you can execute a pharmacological abortion of your pregnancy by its 12th week, which is illegal from the point of view of criminal law".
In Poland abortion is only allowed in 3 cases:
- Risk of life or wellness of a woman (without a time limit),
- Pregnancy resulting from a prohibited act (until Week 12),
- By 2021, abortion was besides allowed due to serious foetal defectsHowever, The Constitutional Tribunal in 2020 found this condition to be unconstitutional.
Helping families with disabled children
One of the organizers of the march is Polish Life Defenders Association, which supports parents of children with disabilities, besides in the perinatal phase.
"We besides want to appeal for parents' rights to rise children according to their own views" – adds Sankowska-Grabczuk.
Who's holding the march?
The event is organised by:

- Coalition for Life and Family,
- over 30 another pro-life organisations.
