The Russian Ministry of defence announced on Wednesday that it had deployed additional armed forces on Syria-controlled provinces of al-Kunajtira, and Dara, adjacent to the Israeli-occupied Golan Hills.
The task of the Russian military gendarmes is to alleviate tensions in this Syrian state and in the Dara Province, more to the east – provided the portal “Jerusalem Post”.
Russian military stations are located behind Russian reflection points to monitor possible provocations from the Syrian army.
The decision to strengthen military presence in the Golan Hills area was taken in consequence to Moscow's condemnation of the Monday Israeli attack on the consulate and residence of Iran's Ambassador to Damascus. This is the first time Israel has violated the integrity of diplomatic or consular posts. As a consequence of the attack, high-ranking officers of the Iranian muslim Revolutionary defender Corps, including General Mohammad Reza Zahed and his deputy Mohammad Hadi Hadji Rahimi, died.

According to global law standards, Golan Hills are part of Syria's territory. Nevertheless, they have been under Israeli business since 1967. In 1981, Israel made a unilateral annexation of Golan Hills, which did not meet the approval of the global community, including the United Nations. Despite this, in 2019 the United States recognized the region as part of Israel's territory, although Poland did not accept this position. In the Golan Hill area, Israel conducts the colonization process.
Last year, Russia's abroad Minister, Sergei Lavrow, accused the United States of its duality, suggesting that they did not take seriously the rule of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the UN associate States. The Golan Hills have been a platform for Israel's actions against the Syrian government and army since the beginning of the conflict in the region, including support for opposition groups.

Iran has been present in Syria for over a decade, supporting the Damascus government through various measures specified as the muslim Revolutionary defender Corps, Lebanese Hezbollah, and Shiite militias from Iraq and Afghanistan. Nevertheless, Iranian soldiers and their allies frequently fall victim to attacks from Israel and sometimes besides from the US.
