In the Sunday referendum, the local residents of Częstochowa decided to dismiss the city president Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk and the full city council. Turnout was 51,863 people, exceeding the voting threshold of 46,625 inhabitants. The overwhelming majority, as many as 97 percent of the voters, advocated the deprivation of the manor and the councillors held the mandates.

The consequence of the vote is simply a direct consequence of the events of February this year, erstwhile Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk from Nowa Lewica was detained by officials of the Central Anti-corruption Office on corruption charges.

The Prosecutor's Office then applied preventive measures against him in the form of a ban on office functions, access to the building of the city office and contact with the employees of the Magistrate, and the duties of the master took over from that minute the Deputy Zdzisław Wolski. The referendum was addressed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Vietnam, pointing to the convergence of social assessments and law enforcement activities.

Position of the Head of Government and procedure for appointing the Commissioner

The Prime Minister pointed out that the decision of the inhabitants of Częstochowa was part of a series of actions undertaken by state services in anti-corruption matters.

"The referendum led to the dismissal of president Częstochowa, but before the referendum, he was detained, he has the charges, he was ex officio removed at the time erstwhile I was Prime Minister erstwhile my people dealt with these matters. I can only express satisfaction that the D.A.'s office and the CBA had a akin opinion as the residents of Częstochowa. Nobody defended him, including his home party," commented Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

At the same time, the head of the government warned that local decisions in Czestochowa should not be translated straight into a national political puzzle or treated as a simple forecast before the upcoming parliamentary elections. The interim Commissioner appointed by the Prime Minister will be in charge until early local elections are held. The initiators of the referendum have already made an authoritative appeal to the head of government, requesting the appointment of a individual outside the existing local power arrangement.
