The Border defender formally addressed the Ukrainian side with a proposal to open an additional belt for carriers in the case of empty transport from Ukraine – announced deputy chief of the Ministry of abroad Affairs, Bartosz Grodecki. He explained that the initiative specifically concerns the transition of the Dolhobycz-Uhryns.
On Saturday, during a joint press conference with infrastructure minister Alvin Gajadhur, Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration, Bartosz Grodecki – (the squad of the two-week government of the fallen Morawioecki – ed.) – discussed the control measures taken by the service in connection with the intensification of truck control from Ukraine. In addition, while informing about standard control activities, he stressed that the services focus on maintaining public order at border crossing points and on access roads.
“In order to carry out this task, we decided to send additional forces and resources to assist our services in Lublin Voivodeship, but besides in Podkarpackie Voivodeship,” said the two-week deputy chief of the Ministry of abroad Affairs.
During the organized press conference, he besides reported that on last Friday the Border defender officially proposed Ukraine to open an additional lane for the transport of empty trucks at the border crossing in Dołhobycz.
"(...) Yesterday the Border defender came to the Ukrainian side with a letter in which we propose beginning an additional belt for carriers erstwhile it comes to empty transport from Ukraine. It will be a transition to Lower Poland” said Grodecki. "This is 1 of the proposals and requests for talks with carriers" – he added. He expressed hope that the Ukrainian side would respond rapidly and this belt would be open by Monday.
We remind you that two-week infrastructure minister Alvin Gajadhur announced a tightening of border controls with Ukraine on Saturday. In this context, he stated that 180 000 verifications were carried out this year, of which about 15 000 were carried out on vehicles belonging to Ukrainian carriers, with more than half of the cases being detected.
On Friday, the Ukrainian Ministry informed about the agreement of any issues concerning the partial unlocking of the border during a gathering with representatives of the Polish government in the context of the strike of carriers. The Ukrainian side suggested beginning the Dołhobycz-Uhryn crossing for empty trucks to relieve another crossings and increase bandwidth at the border. The organiser of the protest, Rafał Mekler, powerfully denied consent to specified conditions.

Furthermore, it was stressed that the European Commission is planning to impose sanctions on Poland due to the protest of carriers, expecting Poland to remove the blockades at the border with Ukraine. Ukraine powerfully criticises the protest, arguing that Ukrainian drivers waiting in long queues are suffering from it, and the blockade affects the economy, especially LPG imports. The allegations about the operation of Polish carriers for Russia and alleged ties to Russian services appear in both Ukrainian public space and Poland, mainly among Ukrainian community and in extremist proukrain environments. Protests of Polish carriers have been moving since 6 November and aim to challenge the inequality of marketplace access between Poland and Ukraine and to abolish permits for Ukrainian carriers operating in Poland, which is mandatory for Polish companies in Ukraine. In addition, it was noted that Ukrainian companies are not obliged to comply with all EU regulations.
