On 11-12 July 2024 in The cheers will be celebrated on the 81st anniversary of Bloody Sunday in Volyn.
This is one more time erstwhile the Chełmian self-government organizes celebrations commemorating the Volynsk Crime and its victims. “This year, we organize the event together with the Museum of Memory of the Victims of the Volyn massacre in Chełma, a self-government unit whose goal is and will be to cultivate the memory of these dramatic events. I believe that as Poles we owe it to both victims and their families," says Jakub Banaszek, president of Chełma.

Last year in Chełma, with the participation of residents, representatives of central, self-government, and border and historical environments, the 80th anniversary of the slaughter was celebrated. Now the city in cooperation with the Museum has re-prepared an interesting programme of celebrations.
On Thursday, July 11th, an exhibition entitled “Neighborhood Blood. Volynian-Galician genocide 1943–1945” will be presented at the Memorial Square of the Victims of the Volynian Mass.
A number of another events were planned for July 12.
Everything will begin with the 2nd Patriotic Volyn Memorial Run, which will take off at 10:00 a.m. from the premises of the Museum of Memory of the Victims of Volynska Rzebel at 102 Hrubieszowska Street. At 12:00 a.m. in the Church of Divine Mercy, in the immediate vicinity of the Museum, a celebration of the Holy Mass will be celebrated in the intention of the Victims of the Volyn massacre.
“Then, at 15 o'clock, we will invitation participants to the Chełm Public Library, where a discussion panel will be held for the churches and chapels in Volyn with paintings by Włodzimierz Sławos Dębski and I–II t. papers of the Volynsk crime,” says Natalia Jędruszczak, manager of the Museum of Memory of the Victims of the Volynsk massacre.
The panel will be attended by: Dr. Tadeusz Zych, Dr. Edward Gigilewicz, Dr. Paweł Sokołowski, Dr. Leon Popek.
The summarizing event will be the Karol Namysłowski Symphony Orchestra Concerto at the Museum of Memory of Victims of Volyńska Rzeża at Hrubieszowska Street. “We cordially invitation everyone to attend the celebrations,” concludes president Chełm.
