Territorials support local governments in the fight against winter

Heavy snowfalls have made life hard for many people in the country for respective days. In consequence to the hard weather situation on Saturday, territorial defence troops introduced a reduced time of readiness for their soldiers to support local governments in possible combating the effects of winter. Today, the territorials helped remove snow to the city services in Malbork.

The territorials of the 8 brigades of the Territorial Defence Army Command shortened to six hours the time of the call, from the minute of receiving an emergency signal. The reason is the weather situation in the country and intense snowfall.

An alert for fast assistance in the possible fight against the effects of winter was directed to soldiers: 3 Sub-Carpathic Territorial Defence Brigade, 4 Warmian-Masurian BOT, 7 Pomerania BOT, 8 Kujawsko-Pomorskie BOT, 10 Świętokrzyska BOT, 11 Małopolska BOT, 13 Silesian BOT and 14 West Pomerania BOT.

Today, at the request of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, the commander of the 7th Pomeranian BOT gave support to the city services in Malbork. As reported by the brigade's press service, Malborese soldiers from the 71st Light Infantry Battalion are helping to clear the area at public utility facilities. Due to hard weather conditions and severe traffic situation today, teaching classes in schools and kindergartens in 5 municipalities of Malborski region have besides been cancelled: Old Field, Miloradz, Lichnowy, Nowy Staw and agrarian Malbork.

In turn, the territorialists of the 4 Warmian-Masurian BOT helped residents of Słupsk from Friday. For 3 days, soldiers from the 73rd Light Infantry Battalion removed the effects of intense snowfall in the city. In the first phase of the action together city services in Słupsk in addition to territorials were besides supported by soldiers from the Central Air Force Police in Ustka, 8th Koszalin Anti-Aircraft Regiment And the 7th Coast defence Brigade.

In erstwhile days, in the fight against the consequences of the winter, they helped, among others,. in Ciechanów – soldiers of the 5th Mazovia Territorial Defence Brigade, Zamość – 2 Lublin BOT.
