The first incarnation of this year's fresh soldiers of the 18th General Antoni Chrushiel Territorial Defence Brigade, ps. “Monter”, began. The youngest volunteer is 18 years old, the oldest – 53 years old. Eighteen - year - old Luke, a advanced school student in Płock who checked in at the training, explains that he wants to gain experience and see what the service looks like from the inside. “I plan military studies,” he explains.
– I came for training due to the fact that the country needs people who will be able to aid in the event of a threat," says 39-year-old Gigy, who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been surviving in Poland since 2006. He's been a national of our country for six years. Gigy hopes that training will be an introduction to longer cooperation with the military. He besides admits that it is crucial that the WOT service allows the military to combine with the work or school.
Eighteen-year-old Bartłomiej wants to carry out his passions in WOT and establish “help to others and his country”. He explains that serving in the territorial ranks will want to combine with working in the fire department. “It’s good that quite a few people came forward,” he says.
After completing all the formalities, volunteers ate their first breakfast in the military cafeteria: oatmeal, sausage, lettuce and peppers and doughnut. Then they had a conversation with a psychologist. They besides had to hand over any of their individual belongings for deposit, while they took distant their uniform and equipment. They were then accommodated and then began training. The theoretical part included, among others, the principles of the construction and usage of weapons, the regulations of wellness and safety, the bases of military regulations and the legal standards of the soldiers in force. The day ended with a PE test. The next fewer days are intense exercises. – After the ceremonial handing out of arms, soldiers will begin shooting training. Between visits to the range, the time will be filled with the discipline of tactics, first aid in the field of combat and protection against contamination. The 1st Armoured Brigade in Warsaw and the Centre for Communications and Computer discipline in Zegrz are available to volunteers. The classes will be conducted by instructors of the training company and 182th Light Infantry Battalion – explained Przemysław Szuszczko. The training will end with a tactical loop test.
In 2025 5 training courses were planned for candidates who had never had contact with the military. Another turnout after “WOT Ferries” is scheduled for May. "Sixteen" concludes a solemn military oath.
The capital brigade was established in July 2022. Since then, the Brigade Staff has been formed and the 181th Light Infantry Battalion in Rembertowo, the 182nd Light Infantry Battalion yet stationed on Ursynów and the 183rd Light Infantry Battalion in Borzęcin. Brigade Command is supported by independent companies – command, logistics, school and bomb squads. In total, 18 SBOT serves almost 1,300 capital territories.
