NATO plans to make a robotic, unmanned region at its east borders over the next 2 years. task implemented under the programme Eastern Flank Deterrence Line (EFDL), was announced by General Thomas Lowin, acting as Deputy Chief of Operations of NATO Land Command.

The fresh infrastructure is intended to strengthen the safety of the east Alliance flank by utilizing autonomous systems, reflection drones and sensor networks. The nonsubjective is to increase the ability to detect threats, to grow the stocks of weapons and ammunition and to reduce direct vulnerability of soldiers to enemy activities.
