In practice, it is about firewalls, engineering terrain preparation, reconnaissance, drone systems, logistics and the ability to hold the opponent. Patriotism in defence matters is not about clapping all government team, but about checking whether money, equipment and decisions make a real advantage. Concrete in the incorrect place is at cost. The American Army describes Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative as a task reinforcing deterrence on the east flank by unmanned systems, live data, command networks and layer defence. Tough national realism is clear: alliances are needed, but an ally respects first and foremost a state that itself bears a burden. If the Shield East becomes the backbone of the defence of the border, it will be the success of Poland. If it becomes just a slogan for the conference, the bill will be paid by citizens in the east of the country. You can't fake advancement here. It needs to be built.
