Military Medical Institute - State investigation Institute (WIM-PIB) took care of the infirmary in Hajnówka, responding to the increasing challenges associated with the border situation. More and more people are being sent to the facility in a state of emergency life, requiring fast and highly specialized assistance.

Training tailored to the needs of Hajnówka
The WIM-PIB Medical Simulation Branch conducted a harm Control opposition (DCR) and harm Control Surgery (DCS) course cycle. The program was based on the plan reasoning method and was prepared in close cooperation with Dr. Tomasz Musik, Deputy manager of medicine of the infirmary in Hajnówka, and staff of the facility. This enabled classes to respond to the team's real needs, and the practice scenarios were close to situations with which Hajnówka doctors could meet in practice.
Learning Lifesaving Procedures
Doctors, nurses and paramedics took part in the courses. During the classes, they learned, among others, the treatment of massive haemorrhages, respiratory irritations, the usage of advanced resuscitation methods and rapid
surgical interventions that let the patient to last until full treatment. Medical simulations were conducted by experienced WIM-PIB specialists in the field of rescue, surgery and anesthesia - experts who save lives in the most hard conditions.
Evaluation and opinions of participants
Training has been carefully assessed - both cognition tests and self-assessment questionnaires have shown a clear increase in the competence of participants. The infirmary staff in Hajnówka stressed that the courses were very practical, professional and highly needed.

What's next?
The quality of the activities is confirmed by the invitation of WIM-PIB instructors to co-organise II Podlasie Anesthesiological Days, which will take place in March 2026. "It is simply a discrimination and a commitment to proceed sharing experience and supporting regions that face peculiar challenges," said Paweł Wiktorzak, Head of the WIM Medical Simulation Centre.
