Walerij Gierasimov, Chief of General Staff of the Russian Army, informed Vladimir Putin that "the operation aimed at regaining full control of the Kursk circuit was completed" - stated Russian agency Interfax. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces denied this and declared that the fighting in the border region is inactive ongoing. Meanwhile, journalists in Kiev pointed out that Gierasimov first officially acknowledged that North Korean soldiers were fighting on the Russian side of the Kursk Oblast.
