On 15 August 2026, Poland celebrated the 106th anniversary of the Warsaw conflict and the Polish Army Day: a parade in Wisłostrada, a naval parade in Gdynia and a dispute over the slogan “Poland SAFE”. The stake is whether the reinforcements will strengthen Polish sovereignty or become political marketing of Brussels and the government.

Festival of the Polish Army under the motto SAFE

On 15 August 2026, Poland celebrated the 106th anniversary of the Warsaw conflict and the Polish Army Day: a parade in Wisłostrada, a naval parade in Gdynia and a dispute over the slogan “Poland SAFE”. The stake is whether the reinforcements will strengthen Polish sovereignty or become political marketing of Brussels and the government.

According to the authoritative program of the Ministry of National Defence, the central celebrations included, among others, a mass for the Homeland in the Department of the Field of the Polish Army, a solemn change of station at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a naval parade in Gdynia at 11:30 and a military parade in Warsaw at 12:00. MON emphasized in the communication that over 20 ships participated in Gdynia, and modern land and air equipment was shown in Warsaw. It was a large state scene. That's why the dispute over her password matters.

In the background of the celebrations there was an exchange of views between president Karol Nawrocki and the head of the MON Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish. The president recalled that the banners of the Polish Army contain the words “God, Honor, Homeland”, not SAFE. The minister responded by developing an abbreviation: alliances, army, factories, Europe. That sounds very marketing. The problem begins erstwhile marketing obscures the basic question: who truly controls Polish armaments, Polish factories and Polish decisions?

Polish army does not request abroad label

The celebration of the Polish Army is not a day since the presentation of the organization slogan. It is simply a day of remembrance of the triumph of 1920 and of a soldier who is to defend the state alternatively than decorate the political message. We've already written that Power deprivation must be a lesson in sovereignty, due to the fact that equipment, uniform and ceremony make sense only erstwhile Polish strategy and manufacture are behind them.

SAFE, the EU's defence debt mechanism, is not a gift from Brussels. The European Commission indicated that the full envelope of the programme was EUR 150 billion and that for Poland EUR 43.7 billion was foreseen. It's money borrowed, with conditions and political context. They can be utilized if they strengthen Polish capabilities. However, we must not pretend that the EU instrument itself is synonymous with national security.

Kosiniak-Kamysz spoke about factories and Polish industry. If, indeed, more than 1 order goes to Stalowa Wola, Kraśnik, Ożarow and another national establishments, this must be handled hard, contracts and expenditure control. If SAFE is to signify a debt for arms purchased under the dictates of external interests, it will be the way of dependence. The difference is fundamental. Poland is to build an army, not a buying catalogue approved in another people's offices.

Alliances do, but with their own strength

National realism is not about insulting all alliance. Poland needs NATO, regional cooperation and access to technology. But a serious state enters alliances with its own spine. president Nawrocki rightly pointed out the importance of freedom, sovereignty and independence. Without them even the best equipment remains only metallic set on the parade.

Therefore, the dispute over SAFE is not semantic. The question is whether the government will treat safety as a field of national consent and reconstruction of Polish potential, or as an image run under the English slogan. SAFE dispute and sovereignty shows the tension that cannot be swept under the carpet: Brussels can be a origin of funding, but it cannot be a command centre of the Polish state.

On the Day of the Polish Army, the Head of the Armed Forces and the Minister of Defence should talk with 1 voice where State safety is concerned. Unity does not mean uncritical consent to the government's slogan. It means clear order: Poland, then global formats; first the soldier and the national industry, then the conference frame; first the national interest, then the EU label.

The conflict of Warsaw obliges

1920 teaches that the nation wins erstwhile it has will, army, command, facilities and spiritual constituency. The Warsaw conflict was not won by the slogan. It was won by the state, which at a decisive minute was able to focus its strength. Modern Poland needs the same logic: not a declaration of security, but real capabilities.

That's why today's lesson is simple. SAFE can be a tool. He can't be a banner. The banner of the Polish Army remains God, Honor and Homeland, and all defence decision is to be measured by the safety of Poles, the strength of the Polish army and the work of Polish factories. Whoever turns this order does not realize the past of 1920, nor the modern rate.
