Festival of the Polish Army. It's the first time we've seen them in that edition

On Friday we celebrate the Polish Army Day. The main point of the ceremony will be the military defilade, which we will see in a completely fresh installment this year. We check out the plan of celebrations, where the event is best watched and what changes in communication await residents and drivers in Warsaw.


The 15th of August is celebrated on the anniversary of the winning 1920 conflict of Warsaw for Poland. It is traditionally a period of many events commemorating the conflict and the Polish-Bolshevik War, in which the Polish Army engages.

The central celebrations began on Thursday with a solemn cap and a memorial appeal at the Monument of the Deceased in 1920 in Warsaw Powązki.

Friday celebrations on the 105th anniversary of the conflict of Warsaw will begin with a mass at the Polish Army Department, and at 10:00 a.m. a solemn change of the station at the Unknown Soldier's Tomb in Józef Piłsudski Square was planned.

During the ceremony, the highest officials will pay tribute to the fallen. Prime Minister Donald Tusk will visit that day's GROM unit, 1 of the most celebrated peculiar Forces units.

The defilement will take place at noon in Warsaw Wisłostrad. It will be supplemented for the first time by a sea element. It's about Navy ships that will take part in a parallel parade in the Baltic close Hel.

The "Thank you for Your Service" parade will begin with speeches by president Karol Nawrocki and Deputy Prime Minister and National Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. A cannon salute and parachuting show were besides planned, during which parachutists would hang the state flag.

Over 4,000 soldiers of all types of the Polish Armed Forces and 88 flag posts will pass along the Vistula River. Almost 200 soldiers from allied troops will participate in the parade, including the USA, large Britain, France and Romania, as well as representations of the Multinational North–East Division and Eurocorpus.

The soldiers will be accompanied by nearly 50 aircraft, including F-16, and about 300 units of military equipment: Leopard, K2 and Abrams tanks, Borsuk and Rosomak combat vehicles, Patriot launchers and HIMARS artillery systems. The parade will besides present fresh equipment and medical evacuation vehicles, which will be commanded by women soldiers.

Difficulties in Warsaw


The defilement will origin difficulties in the city center. They will last until the defilada is completed and the equipment is loaded into military units.

The Metropolitan Police Station informed that from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Piłsudski Square and the Royal Street between Małachowski and Piłsudski Squares will be inaccessible. The tour will include bus lines: 111, 116, 128, 175, 178, 180 and 503.

Wisłostrada will be completely closed from Skłodowska-Curie Bridge to Gagarina Street, and the tour will be conducted, among others, by Modlińska, Jagiellońska and the Helski Coast.

During the flight of aircraft (11:30–13:30) the Gdańsk and Śląsko-Dąbrowski bridges and the pedestrian-rover bridge will be closed. Along the defilade route, drinking water points will be arranged, and medics will watch over the celebration. Organizers call for headgear and proceeding protection for children.



Television Poland will broadcast from the ceremony. The coverage will begin at 9:50 p.m. on TVP1, TVP Info and TVP Polonia, and the parade will be available from 12:00 pm.

Opening of the Warsaw conflict Museum 1920


On Saturday, August 16th, 1920 Warsaw conflict Museum will be opened with the participation of the head of the MON. The complex is erected on a 17-metre artificial hill, at its feet stand 2 70-metre masts with floating white-red proponents. A 500-metre triumph Avenue leads to the museum.

During the opening, a permanent exhibition will be presented, including uniforms and weapons of both sides of the conflict, an awesome French siege cannon de Bange, as well as Polish and Bolshevik propaganda leaflets and posters. The 4 exhibition modules combine archival movie and photographic materials with modern multimedia effects, sound and specially composed music.

On 16 August, the museum will be open for a free tour between 17:00 and 8:00.
