In the European Union, around 3 percent of children are born after insemination. In Poland it is 1.6-2 percent. Doctors estimation that an in vitro refund will increase this percent to 4%.
The program of the Ministry of wellness was created by a bill passed in late 2023 providing that the State will allocate at least PLN 500 million annually for the in vitro refund. The programme will run until 31 December 2028. The full cost is PLN 2.5 billion.
