The first circular of the 2025 presidential elections in Poland was already past – for respective reasons. First, the results came at unprecedented speed. Secondly, much more importantly, attendance proved to be record-breaking, beating results from both 2020 and 2015. More and more Poles decide to exercise their right to vote, and the data show that the interest in elections increases, despite the shrinking number of eligible voters. What did this year's statistic look like? We're looking at the most crucial numbers and interesting things about voting.

Turnout is increasing, despite the decline in voters

Every year the population of Poland is decreasing – and consequently the number of people with voting rights is decreasing. In 2015, 30.88 million citizens were eligible, in 2020 only 30.20 million, and in this year 2025 this number fell to 29.25 million. Nevertheless, election attendance has increased. Only 49.18% of citizens took part in the vote in 2015. 5 years later, it was 64.51%. In 2025 another evidence was issued – attendance was as advanced as 67.31%.

This proves that Poles are increasingly active in political life and are aware of the importance of their voice. Higher attendance may show a increasing request to influence the destiny of the country and a greater interest in those who will sit in the Presidential Palace for the next 5 years.

Most and least active municipalities

Krynica Morska was peculiarly distinguished on the Polish electoral map. It was there that the highest attendance was recorded – as many as 83.51% of the inhabitants gave an crucial voice. At the another end of the scale was Zębowice Municipality with attendance of 41.61%. The differences between regions are visible and may arise from various factors – from local mobilisation, information campaigns, to the availability of electoral venues.

Voting abroad

Poles surviving abroad besides actively participated in the vote. There were 511 election committees in 92 countries, with a full of 465.7 1000 votes cast. That's 2.43% of all the crucial votes. Interestingly, the vote was besides held on 5 ships, where 171 citizens expressed their choice, which represented symbolic 0.0009% of the total.

Never head votes – little than in erstwhile years

There are besides no votes in each election. This year there were 85,8 thousand, or 0.436% of all votes cast. This means that on average all 229 people voted out, which was not counted. Compared to erstwhile years, the situation is unchangeable – in 2020 there were 58.3 1000 invalid votes (0.299%), while in 2015 there were 126.2 1000 (0.831%). The most common reason for annulment is an empty ballot card (approx. 75%), and the remaining cases are usually more than 1 candidate.

A chance for an even higher turnout in the second round

Statistics show that the second circular of elections usually attracts additional voters. In 2015, the polls went by 1.96 million more than in the first round, which translated into an increase in attendance by 6.21 percent points. In 2020, despite the advanced score already in the first vote, the second circular gathered an additional 1.15 million voters – an increase of 3.67 pp.

Will it be akin in 2025? Everything points to that. If the trend continues, we can anticipate the turnout in the second circular to exceed the 70% threshold, which would be an absolute evidence in the past of the 3rd Poland.

The presidential election of 2025 shows that the engagement of citizens in the democratic process is constantly increasing. Despite the decreasing number of voters, more and more Poles decide to vote. advanced attendance is simply a clear signal that society wants to co-decision on the future of the country. The second circular can bring even more mobilization and thus another historical result.
