Left offered me a start to the Sejm from her Warsaw list. The proposal was addressed to me, to the environment of Polish citizens and another civic communities. The decision is hard for me and for the citizens of Poland. The Senate, which should be a cross-party, should safeguard basic constitutional standards and be an institution in which citizens control politics, would be a natural place for us. Sejm — Harder. I myself believe that the presence of people in parliament who in a clear way control the rulers as government representatives is simply a condition for the endurance of parliamentary democracy. This is also, I fear very much, a essential condition for the endurance of the new, hopefully majority following the upcoming elections. due to the fact that times will be difficult, crisis, and the parliamentary majority — if it actually succeeds — will undoubtedly be fragile and heavy dependent not so much on political “wings”, but simply on the brown Confederate. People request to know that parliament represents them, that it is not just the backdrop and extension of power.
The citizens of Poland will undoubtedly take the proposal of the Left seriously. Under average conditions — average not in the sense of the death of democracy and its institutions, but in a planet in which politicians behave rationally and honestly — we would say that we would be happy to run, but the list must be one, and voters must decide about its composition. In a transparent procedure with the choice of the best people and programs, not as a consequence of the 4 organization leaders' fair. There's no chance of that today.
It would be much easier if we knew that specified candidates could be in different places in Poland more – that they would be able to make independent, cross-party representation, specified as a club or at least a wheel. We do not know, to be completely open, whether we can inactive prepare specified a squad based on necessarily different environments, not to mention the anticipation of negotiating this with the Left, which has its own candidates, which we realize well. We know we gotta respond rapidly and we will do it at an express rate.
The Levite’s proposal means a lot to us, and they thank us very much for it, whether it comes to the composition of the list and the result of the election. I know, of course, that the Left would like to benefit from this beginning — and I full accept it. I will be happy to look at organization calculations, in which civilian demands and aspirations are at last important.
Thanks are besides due to those fewer publicists who, like Dorota Wysocka-Schnepf and Jacek Żakowski (which was the direct reason for the Left's offer) have late claimed civic candidates in talks about politics with politicians.
