Shotguns on the Ukrainian front! Why isn't simple ammunition enough?

Drony, intelligent ammunition and modern tactics – the war in Ukraine is changing in front of us. A weapon that until late was mainly associated with hunting appears more and more frequently on the battlefield. Rifles and shotgun ammunition have become 1 of the key elements of military equipment. Why? due to the fact that that's what the shotgun gives you the best chance of shooting down an enemy drone. Does that mean that smooth-bore weapons are back in the army?
