Several South African political parties have launched a run to change the name of South Africa to the Republic of Azania because, as they argue, the current name of the country is simply a remnant of colonialism. The originators of the changes callback Namibia, formerly South-West Africa under Germany and South Africa, as a successful example of postcolonial name change.
