This change means that Poland and NATO will be more liable for organising military aid for Ukraine, which has so far focused around the airport in Rzeszów.
– present we have a situation where American soldiers remain. Those who were dedicated to aid Ukraine, not sent to Poland," said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish in the program "Graffiti" on Polsat News. He added: "the state of soldiers in Poland, although it does not change, it is more dedicated to Poland than to the aid of Ukraine", which he described as a "change to a plus".
Kosiniak-Kamysz recalled that there are presently about 85,000 American soldiers in Europe, most of which are 37,000 in Germany. There is inactive Italy with a number of about 12-13 thousand. Poland is in 3rd place, there is about 10 1000 American military station here.

According to the National Defence Minister, the decision to relocate US forces was inactive made during Joe Biden's presidency, and its implementation lasted respective months. Kosiniak-Kamish revealed that the American website insisted on keeping the plans secret until the authoritative announcement.

"War US stays in Poland! As decided at the NATO summit in Washington, the nature of the mission in Jasionka is changing. The US forces in Jasionka have been taken over by successive allies," he wrote.
The Minister recalled that since July 2024, NATO has been liable for the operation of the Jasionka base as part of the NSATU mission. Currently, the main burden of action here lies with the Norwegian, German, British and Polish troops, with the support of another allies.
Organisational change aims to better adapt NATO structures to the challenges of assistance to Ukraine. Jasionka herself remains a key logistics point.
