On 20 September 2025, a soldier of the 20th Przemysl Territorial Defence Brigade, Gen. Stefan Rowecki, ps. “Grot” made a unique accomplishment - he won the highest summit of Europe, Mont Blanc (4808 m above sea level), the highest highest of the Alps, located on the state border of France and Italy, in the Mont Blanc massif in the Graic Alps in the Western Alps. It belongs to the Crown of Europe.
The expedition, which was a success, required the associate to have large endurance, determination and physical preparation. The WOT soldier set out to the summit as part of the first task “to win the highest peaks of Europe” aimed at promoting patriotic attitudes, fortitude and a healthy lifestyle among soldiers and society.
Despite hard weather conditions, low temperatures and strong wind, territorials with 20 PBOT reached the top, putting the white-red flag there. As he points out:
- I'm sorry. On 20.09.2025 I won the highest highest of France, the Alps and Europe - Mont Blanc 4808 m above sea level. It was my most demanding expedition, which consumed quite a few physical, method and logistical preparations. I carried out a highest attack from the Gouter shelter at an altitude of 3835 metres. Wake up at 2:45, breakfast and exit at 4:30. The weather forecasts haven't worked since the morning. It's been strong. It was hard. The higher I felt the altitude, approaching 4,500 meters, I felt the first weakness. To add icy places, narrow passages and strong climbing approaches, but I had to endure. Around 10 am I stood on the highest summit of Europe - says the soldier of the Jarosław battalion of OT.
After a short stay on the top, he attempted to decision towards Courmayeur to gain besides the highest highest of Italy. Unfortunately, limited visibility and ice gaps prevented the expedition from continuing. It's hard, next year's attack on the Italian side.
This is simply a unique example of determination and fortitude. Our soldiers service the Homeland not only in uniform, but besides through their passions and accomplishments that inspire others to act.
Obtaining Mont Blanc is yet another proof that soldiers of the Territorial Defence Army are not only defenders of the Homeland, but besides people with extraordinary strength of character, ready to face challenges at the highest level - virtually and figuratively.
