What does reading of Jeremiah training say about Poland and the moral condition of Poles? Well, the inspired author of the books of the Old Testament describes the symptoms of slavery, accompanying the dominance of the state and nation by strangers. consecutive and clear. No doubt.
On Tren V I came across this morning's spiritual reading, which I dedicate myself to on the train. I read this short part with baking on my face and increasing amazement, as words from 2 and a half 1000 years ago perfectly fit the Polish reality AD 2024. I quote in the translation of Father James Uncle.
The prophet describes the humiliation of a nation that lost its own statehood (the work was written after the first demolition of the temple of Jerusalem). Practically the only difference we can make is that then the fall occurred spectacularly, and the chosen people were driven to Babylon and were openly persecuted. present it happens in white gloves.
Remember, Lord, what has come to us, see and see our dishonour. Our inheritance has turned to others, our homes to strangers. We were orphaned without a father, our mothers as widows – begins the author, describing the typical effects of warfire and defeat. However, already in the next verse it goes to a description which with amazing precision we can mention to the current situation in Poland. We drank our water with money, we bought our wood with money. Is it not – write, paint – a image of how the government in Warsaw directs natural resources and economical mechanisms? The central authority, utilizing alleged self-government authorities (which have nothing in common with the self-government of free citizens) regulates us the "right" to extract water on our own land, prohibits coal extraction, and then brings it from abroad for the bastard amounts.
However, water and wood are more important. They are simply basic, inherent products essential for survival, and God created them to service us. Whether it is privately (possibility to cut down a tree on its own game and burn in the fireplace) or nationally (using coal power without force from global terrorists and without paying them labour from the “CO2 emissions”).
Jeremiah explains what this slavery is. For our necks we were chased, we were given no rest. We gave Egypt our hand and the Assyrians to eat bread. So we have the regulation of physical and material freedom. We have hard work without a fair measurement (taxes that we pay in the equivalent of more than half of our earnings – already celebrated for working for six months for a defiant government, which has nothing to do with the fair taxation that we have a moral work to pay).
Most importantly, in this paragraph: in order to get the resources essential for life, we must scope for the “favor” of abroad tycoons (in Jeremiah - Egyptians and Assyrians, but present we can freely plant the names of present powers and economical colonists). Apart from the coal mentioned above, we barely have our own manufacture (economic development) and our own food and retail chain (food security). What about the basic freedom of increasing and rearing animals, so that we can supply our own sumptum with proverbial regular bread. On everything holds the grasp of an all-powerful state apparatus, whose autonomy, however, ends erstwhile it comes to... setting up for strangers.
We find in Trenie V a fundamental consensus for reflection on our poverty. Our fathers have sinned, and they are not with you, and we bear their iniquity. – indicates the prophet. Here it is appropriate to halt complaining about what we do not have and about the rape that the governments of Warsaw traitors are causing on our lives. The work rests on our fathers and passes on to us, and the misfortune will only end erstwhile we take on this responsibility. But first, we gotta halt feeling sorry for others. This is the first step that we must intellectually and morally do to regain freedom. This should besides begin with our historical reflection erstwhile we think of the partitions and russian captivity under which we groaned for 2 100 years.
Here we are asked to callback the words of our Polish “prophecy”, Father Peter Skarga (who warned against all this, marking the sins of our fathers), coming from the work Calling for repentance of citizens of the Polish Crown and the Grand Duke of Lithuania. Let us quote a longer passage to show how the Preacher of the Nation recalled the same motives as Jeremiah’s (although citing Isaiah) to bring the nation to mind:
Though I am not Isaiah, but his shadow and the vile messenger of God, from the priestly order of Isaiah I cry out: “Listen to heaven, and take into your ears the things the Lord says. I raised my sons and raised them, and they despised me. He knew his owner's ox, and the ass of his Lord was ass, and Israel knew me not, and my people did not understand." The Lord God revealed himself to the judaic people and their large gifts, as sons, he honored and gave them, and they were foolisher than the beasts which their masters knew, God their father and benevolent, and despised, turning aside from him and his commandments and his will, not wanting to realize that he was willing to do well to his creation; so is he besides strong and angry to punish the ungrateful and the foolish, and in the sins of his stubborn servants. And the prophet threatens them, saying: “Woe to the sinful nation, to the angry people, to the seed of evil, to the sons of evil. Your land is empty, your cities are burned with fire; your land is devoured by strangers in your eyes, and is desolate as in the dust of war, and as a cooler by the vineyard, and as a shed by the garden.”
But let us not think that this is the end of humiliation. Jeremiah has more for us. We read: Slaves ruled over us, there was no 1 to redeem them from their hands. Exactly! The treacherous (or hypocritical) hostages of abroad powers populating the stools in our erstwhile capital regulation us, and among us there is no 1 (real elites) who would offer an alternative. Not only that, another slaves, these are also nonfree and non-swedish peoples, they add to our bitterness spell, which we have exemplum even in humiliating relations with Kiev.
In our souls we brought bread before the sword in the wilderness. Our skin as a furnace has melted since the rape of hunger. The women in Zion humbled, and the virgins in the cities of Judah. The princes with their hand are hanged, not ashamed of the faces of the old. They utilized young men for mischief, and groins under the wood of the lions – continues the author, returning to the typical war narrative, a full description of force against both the representatives of power (elity) and the people (community).
In the following verses, we have more... Old men from the gates will determine, young men from the singing dance. The wedding of our heart ceased, and our dance was turned into mourning. The crown of our head has fallen, woe to us that we have sinned! so our heart became sad, and our eyes were darkened. For Mount Sion, that she died, the leaves walked on her – so the possible of the lost (forgotten?!) joy of freedom and self-determination.
Because of our sins, we have lost the crown of glory and joy. The youth who, by nature, derives full handfuls from the abundance of life is clothed with mourning robes. Here again we can make a reservation: we do not have mourning, but note that spiritual joy is increasingly dispelled by anxiety, and besides replaced by the pleasures of low flights, if we take into account the quality of today's entertainment, cultural rooting and breaking off with native customs in favour of mindless imitation. Speaking of which, it's worth mentioning the words from Tren III: You have made me in the midst of the nations by rooting and rejecting. A description of a cultural (and not just a socio-political) disaster would require separate reflection.
Meanwhile, author Tren V Even in the last verses, erstwhile he addresses the Lord, he does not give us much comfort. And you, Lord! You shall endure forever, your throne to nation and nation. Why do you forget us forever? Leaving us for days? Turn us, O Lord, to ourselves, and we will convert, renew our days as of the first. But erstwhile you rejected us, you became very angry with us. - We read. It is the perfect buckle of this parallel description of our reality. There is hope in God, but not as it seems to the various hurrah-patriots and proclaimers of the tribal ideology of the godfather. The key words are: Repent us, Lord!
At the very end, there is simply a realistic state of affairs. It's bad. And there's a chance that it's better only if we start thinking, that's utilizing our brains. But even this will not work without conversion – understood on the 1 hand as addressing the sacramental sources of grace, and on the another hand as a necessity for a thorough redevelopment of our strategy of concepts. It is about realizing what it means to be free, not in the light of liberalism, but in the conventional principles of natural law, and described by realistic doctrine (Aristoteles) and moral theology (St. Thomas).
We are told, Poles – “Catholic society” – that we have freedom and our own state. However, a horse with a row of who, on the basis of cognition of the natural order (the laws which God gave to the planet in creation, writing them in human nature), or on the basis of biblical reflection, would be able to prove specified a statement.
