Poland does not exclude the anticipation of sending troops to Ukraine, but it will not “disclosure its game” so Vladimir Putin will reflect on further ru and NATO – told the media abroad Minister Radosław Sikorski. At the same time, the same individual sees the problem of sending Ukrainian deserters in Poland to the Ukrainian front.

When talking to BBC planet during his visit to the US, Sikorski emphasized the decisive defensive actions of Warsaw in the context of the war in Ukraine, including its leading function in defence spending.

"We spend the largest part of our GDP [in defence] in NATO, 4% of GDP, and next year we can increase it," he said.

Although Sikorski considered it improbable that Moscow would attack NATO, he admitted that Vladimir Putin had acted very irresponsiblely by invading Ukraine, for which he is now considered a war criminal.

When asked about comments by French president Emmanuel Macron, who did not exclude the sending of troops to Ukraine, Sikorski did not confirm unequivocally that Poland would not send its forces there. On the contrary, he called for uncertainty to be maintained to leave Putin in uncertainty about possible Western reactions.

“It is good to get [Vladimir] Putin to ask what we are going to do, not always calm him down by saying that we will not do certain things”, he explained.

Macron besides did not regulation out the deployment of NATO forces in Ukraine at the summit on Ukraine held in February in Paris, but this message was not well received by most European NATO associate States. any countries, including Germany and Spain, even rejected them.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk besides excluded the anticipation of direct engagement of Polish troops in the war in Ukraine.

"I don't think we should speculate present about the future and whether something will change," he said.

At the beginning of this year, Sikorski thanked the countries that sent their troops to Ukraine to contribute to the training of Ukrainian armed forces and another activities.

The Minister is selected as the next Polish European Commissioner. Donald Tusk announced in March that if the fresh European Commission had included the Defence Commissioner, as planned by the president of Ursula von der Leyen, it would be an interesting proposal for his abroad minister.

However, obstacles may arise due to the fact that the government will gotta get the President's approval before appointing a commissioner, in accordance with a fresh law adopted last October regulating cooperation between the President, Government and Parliament.

According to respective experts, president Andrzej Duda, a erstwhile associate of the PiS, the main opposition party, may favour PiS candidate Jack Saryusz-Wolski alternatively of Sikorski, who is appointed by the government.
