Speeches on work for the functioning of the fallen stock exchange Zondacrypto sparked a sharp exchange between president Karol Nawrocki and Deputy Prime Minister and abroad Minister Radosław Sikorski.
During his speech in the Jurat, the president referred to Prime Minister Donald Tusk's earlier words, pointing out the function of government bodies and their subordinate peculiar services:
"If Prime Minister Donald Tusk acknowledges that this is the biggest scandal after 1989, he has the right to do so, but this is not good information for the Prime Minister".
"I remind you that the Prime Minister is liable for Polish services, the Prime Minister posed with Zondacrypto shirt. I remind you that the Polish services for which the Prime Minister and the Minister of peculiar Services coordinator are liable are liable for securing the well-being of Poles.”
The president thus referred to a photograph of February 2026, on which the head of government held the commemorative outfit of Lechia Gdańsk received from young players, where the cryptocurrency platform logo was visible due to its acting as the club's main sponsor from January.
Position of Head of the Ministry of abroad Affairs and issue of presidential vetoes
At the same time, Karol Nawrocki reiterated his critical assessment of the government in Parliament, stating that "a bill proposed by a majority of Parliament would not change the situation with the Zondacrypto affair" and adding, "This is just a bad bill, an effort to reverse work by the Prime Minister".
Mr Radosław Sikorski referred straight to the message made by the head of the state to the Deputy Prime Minister and the head of the MFA, posting an entry on the X platform:
"No, Mr. president Nawrocki, you will not be able to turn the tide. Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned of Zondacrypto, and you, in exchange for political benefits, vetoed laws to regulate it. This cannot be said.”
