Shooting in the rhythm of waves – gunners of the 17th Mechanized Brigade in Świnoujście

In an unusual, full sea scenery, gunners of the 17th Wielkopolska Mechanized Brigade took intensive, two-day training in Świnoujście. The exercises were carried out in cooperation with sailors from the 8th Coast Defence Fleet.

Shooters selected from the 2nd and 3rd Infantry Battalion motorized the 17th Wielkopolska Mechanized Brigade and the section of gunmen from 25th. The Air Cavalry Brigade completed a two-day training held on 20 and 21 November in the waters off the coast of Świnoujście. The soldiers trained in cooperation with the crew of the H-11 Bolko tugboat, from the 12th Trag Squadron.

The sea, with its volatility and demanding dynamics, created perfect conditions for investigating gunmen's skills under conditions that deviate from standard land activities.
Sensitive swinging of a water unit, limited deck space and adverse weather conditions forced soldiers to concentrate, precision, continuous correction of work and fast decision making.

During the course of the class, situational shootings were carried out, assuming a reaction to simulated threats. The exercises aimed at expanding precision, stableness and resilience to stress, as well as strengthening interoperability between land troops and the Navy.

"This kind of training allows our shooters not only to improve their own workshop, but besides teaches them to function in a diverse environment, where all item matters. This year, for the second time, we have the chance to share training with the sailors of 8FOW," says the class manager at 2bpzmot, plut. Piotr.

The maritime episode was the next phase of the training cycle of the marksmen from Wędrzyn, including preparation for action in 3 key domains: land, air and sea.

H-11 Bolko tug, support unit 12. The trawlers' squadron, provided a stable, yet demanding platform for carrying out tasks. The sailors, thanks to their experience at sea, supported soldiers 17. safety brigades, on-board procedures and the specificity of work on vessels.

Training is another component of preparation for activities in a high-risk environment and an example of effective cooperation between types of armed forces.
