The three-time winner of the Wuhan event was a possible opponent of Iga Christmas in the quarterfinal. Her failure means that the Polish road to the next rounds may look different than expected. In the 1/8 final, Iga Christmas will face American Ashlyn Krueger. Polish rivals won the promotion, defeating Tajka Lanlana Tararudee 2:6, 6:1, 6:1 on Wednesday.
Before Christmas most likely won with Magdalena Frzech 6:2, 6:1. The triumph besides had a historical dimension – Polka scored the 149th win in the WTA 1000 tournaments, ahead of Serena Williams.
