From 1 September 2026 wellness education will happen compulsory subject in Polish schools. The Ministry of National Education, led by Barbara Nowacka, maintained its earlier assumptions despite the strong opposition of any parents, social organisations and opposition politicians. However, a separate sexual wellness module will stay optional. Nevertheless, its elements were inserted into the obligatory part. Importantly, the subject dio has inactive not been developed textbooks, and so left-wing activists as teachers of the subject can actually do what they want.
Thanks to Nowacka, the sexualization of Polish children is progressing. Primary school students from grades IV to VIII will have 1 hr of alleged wellness education per week, with classes in grade VIII not longer than the end of January. In secondary schools, the subject will be implemented for 2 years, including 1 hr a week. The subject, promoted as crucial for wellness prophylaxis, from the beginning had its hidden goal of promoting alleged free love, casual relationships, sodomy and genderism.
MEN stresses that the mandatory part of the subject will include physical and intellectual health, physical activity, nutrition, the prevention of addictions, social health, safety and digital hygiene. Sexual wellness content has been formally excluded from the mandatory part and will form a separate, optional object.
It is the question of separation of sexual education that raises the top controversy. As of September, students of grades IV to VI will be able to participate in specified classes for 1 hr in the school year, students of grades VII to VIII for 2 hours, while in secondary schools there will be 3 hours in the school year in 2 classes.
Formally, participation in the sex module will not be compulsory. In the case of a underage student, parents may resign in writing to the school head. An adult can do it on his own. Before starting classes, the school is besides required to hold an information gathering for parents. However, this does not change the fact that sex education remains part of the school strategy and is institutionally introduced by the state to the curriculum.
It is besides hard to ignore the political context of the full reform. wellness education from the beginning was presented by the Donald Tusk government as 1 of the elements of a wider policy on wellness and well-being of the young generation. Already at the inauguration of the work on the fresh subject in 2024, representatives of education, wellness and athletics ministries announced that it would besides include sexual education. At that time, the Ministry of wellness identified the welfare of students as 1 of the priorities of the government.
Formally, parents can discharge a kid from a sex wellness module. In practice, however, there is simply a question of the pressures of the school environment, the way in which these content is presented, and the degree to which parents actually control what children learn at school.
The introduction of a separate subject on sexual wellness normalises the presence of specified content in the education of children and young people. The problem, therefore, is not simply whether a circumstantial kid will be enrolled in circumstantial classes but in the direction in which the state changes the model of education.
For critics of reform, it is not simply a neutral change of curriculum. In their view, 1 of its essential elements is to shift the issue of sexual education from primarily household to a general area, more connected with wellness than procreation. Thus, in principle, sexuality according to Nowacka is expected to be pleasant and is not straight related to child-bearing. It is thanks to this alement that the way of normalization of sodomitic acts and promotion of sex deviations is opened.
That is why the opponents of improvement usage the word "sexing of children". In their view, systematic tamement of children with issues of sexuality, deviative relationships and related issues from an increasingly earlier age can lead to a shift in moral boundaries and a weakening of the conventional model of family-based education.
Controversy about wellness education has already emerged on the first version of the reform. Social organizations and representatives of the Catholic Church were against its assumptions. In 2024, the Polish Episcopal Conference indicated that sexual education remains primarily within the competence of parents and that parents have a constitutional right to rise children according to their beliefs.
Social protests have besides been organised against the reform, including demonstrations under the heading "Yes for Education, not for Depravity". This objection was not due to the question of the request to communicate wellness cognition to children as specified but, above all, to concerns about the degree of state interference in the field of education and sexual content.
The prioritising of the sex agenda by Barbara Nowacka and the current government camp is part of a broader task to rebuild social standards. School education is 1 of the most crucial tools for shaping future social attitudes. The aim is so not simply to supply young people with cognition of sexual health. The aim is to gradually shift the boundaries of what is considered normal, acceptable and socially acceptable for children and young people.
Such a policy leads to further sexualisation of the young generation after the line of utmost left-wing ideology, weakening the importance of conventional moral norms and consequently deepening the demographic crisis, household ties and moral degradation of society.
