SAFE in a pill

The EU's safety Action For Europe (SAFE) programme was created to strengthen associate States' defence capacity. Poland is its largest beneficiary and will receive EUR 43.7 billion in the form of low-interest loans. The money will be used, among others, to acquisition drones, air defence systems, ammunition or weapons of land troops. The funds are to be spent by 2030 and the debt will be repaid up to 45 years from the date of payment of each tranche. About 90 percent of the funds will go to Polish companies, and the government estimates that the programme will benefit almost 12 1000 Polish companies cooperating with the arms industry.
