The Romanian Constitutional Court rejected the motion for annulment of the May 18 presidential election. As reported, the decision is final. The protest was submitted by the losing candidate George Simon, who argues that the institution "continues the coup".

Romania. Request for cancellation of election results rejected

Sunday Second circular of presidential election won by Nicosor Dan with a consequence of 53.6% of the votes. Simion, who won the most votes in the first circular on 4 May, gained 46.4% in the second round.

The May, repeated elections took place after December 2024. The Constitutional Court annulled the first circular of November 24.

The reason for this decision was the allegations against 1 of the candidates – far right Calina Georgescuwho then won the first place – to abuse run and to break the principles of fair electoral competition, as well as support from an external entity, with the proposition that Russia is involved.
