Unlike conventional weapons, black powder weapons in Poland can be obtained rather easily. To buy it online, you just should be 18. It does not like the Polish government, which plans to restrict access to it.
Black powder weapons are firearms powered by separate charging ammunition. This means that in order to fire a bullet, 1 should burden the powder, the bullet and the fuse separately. In widespread use, guns powered by black powder were from the mediate Ages until the 19th century.
Despite the more hard and time-consuming handling, revolvers of this kind are popular today, manufactured according to technology before 1885. In Poland, it is adequate to be an adult to buy black powder weapons, and obtaining a licence for conventional weapons requires obtaining a permit. For this reason, those who want to have an effective tool of defence scope for “black-pricks”.
However, Deputy Minister of the Interior and Administration Czesław Mrkok stated that "the introduction of a licence to hold the kind of weapon in question is being considered" or the work to "record black powder weapons, as is the case with pneumatic weapons". As early as 2024, “Rzeczpospolita” reported on a peculiar squad of experts from the Ministry of abroad Affairs and the police to prepare circumstantial provisions on this issue.
Also last year, the Independent Local Union of Policemen issued a petition to the Sejm demanding "reclamation of access to black powder weapons". This was argued by cases of crimes committed with the usage of just specified weapons; and so, for example, in December 2023 in Wrocław 2 police officers were killed with black powder weapons and in July 2024 another officer was shot in Bolesławec.
The police union argues that “black powder weapons are as dangerous as modern firearms.” In their opinion, the popular 44 Remington "is identical if not greater threat to life and human health" as utilized by Glock 17 police officers.
However, trade unionists do not agree with access to arms. – In fact, it cannot be compared to modern weapons. Black powders are much little precise and fast-shooting, and above all hard to load. This involves the full procedure of applying gunpowder, pints, ball, grease and cap said Andrzej Turczyn, president of the Citizens' Movement of Arms Lovers.
