On Tuesday, method work began on board the ‘Khatanga’ tanker, which has docked in Port Gdynia since 2017. The Russian wreck, incapable to navigate independently, will be removed due to the threat it poses to port infrastructure. The board of the port expects to sale the unit to recover any of the costs – over PLN 13 million of late fees. The Russian wreck that became a problem The ship “Khatanga” is simply a Russian oil tanker. It is 150 metres long, weighs 15,000 tons and has been closed for years.
