To address this problem, the Russian regional authorities made a shocking decision to pay money to underage students who became pregnant. This programme is already being implemented in 3 regions of the country, including the Kemerov Oblast in Siberia.
Support programme for pregnant students
In the Kemer region, underage students who become pregnant can receive 100,000 rubles (about PLN 4.5 thousand) as support. The condition for receiving this amount is to supply a medical certificate confirming the pregnancy. Furthermore, applications for this amount may be submitted by women who become pregnant after 1 January 2024. If a girl is underage, her parents or guardians are paid.
Other regions besides join the programme
The Kemer Oblast is not the only region to introduce this programme. The 3 regions in Russia carry out this program, including the Orlów region, which offers 100,000 rubles, and the Brest region, which offers 50,000 rubles.
