«He who receives the prophet as a prophet will receive the reward of the prophet»
Who is the prophet today? He who preaches the fact of God stands behind them and suffers for them. Not everyone who prophesys is simply a prophet. Even a small kid can prophesy erstwhile he speaks of God’s Spirit for encouragement, instruction, or admonition. In his letter to the Corinthians, the apostle calls us to zealously prosecute the gift of prophecy. Prophecy does not mean predicting the future. The Bible’s word “prophecy” means preaching God’s word in the power of God, in a timely manner, so that it reaches the human heart.
Today, however, false prophets inactive be and there are many. In theological departments, these are liberal theologians who deny Christ's divinity, his actual and historical resurrection, and even the divine inspiration of the Scriptures. In fact, they do not believe in any miracles in the Scriptures. Of course, they will not say it directly, so it seems that they besides express the fact beautifully, but with ambiguous wordings, they distort it so much that they actually destruct it. False prophets avoid the essence of things and kill the fact and extinguish God’s Spirit with much of the information they read. They can preach heresies and various half-truths in an attractive way, thus depriving people of what is most precious – saving faith! actual prophets, on the another hand, place emphasis on saving religion due to the fact that without it no 1 will be saved.
As for the reward, as Jesus says, anyone who accepts the prophet, that is, anyone who accepts the actual teaching which he preaches, and the Spirit of God, which the prophet possesses, will receive in eternity the same reward as the prophet himself. Furthermore, here on earth, the prophets are persecuted, slandered, and despised, and public expression of unity with them means accepting participation in the slanders, mockery, and persecutions of which the prophet is persecuted. But these persecutions and ridicules are experienced not due to the prophet, but due to the fact he preaches. As a result, man experiences mockery from Christ himself.
Moses said, “May all the people prophesy to the Lord” (Lb 11:29). all Christian, if he is faithful to Christ (and may even be a young person, if he courageously stands in the truth), experiences to any degree the destiny of the prophet—punishment, ridicule, threats, and slander.
We ask that we receive not only the gift of prophecy, but besides that we be truly rooted in truth, in Christ, and become actual prophets for today's times, for the people we meet. And whoever accepts us actually accepts the Christ we witness and follow.
