Port Tartus has been utilized for many years by the Russian fleet as a naval base. This base has a Mediterranean naval group of Russia. Currently, this fleet consists of 3 frigates - 2 types of Goroszkov, 1 kind of Grigorowicz, 1 submarine of the Warszawianka kind and 2 units of support - including the tanker “The Deer”.
