Only a fewer decades ago, women in the Polish army were rare. present there are over 34,000 of them, including 21,000 professional soldiers. The military not only opens up all career paths to them, but besides modernizes infrastructure and equipment to respond to the needs of soldiers.

– Women request not be encouraged to join the army in any peculiar way. Those who want to come to the army, they come, have already established a professional way – he emphasizes in an interview with the Newseria agency Captain Bartłomiej Zaremb from the Outpost Centre in Kielce Central Military Recruitment Centre.

Ladies are a 100 percent part of the military environment.

Women soldiers service in all corps and all types of armed forces – both in command, technical, medical or educational positions, and as private soldiers. Among them are outstanding sportsmen who win medals at the Olympic Games and planet or European Championships. The number of women in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland is steadily expanding and they prove that the uniform knows no sex boundaries.

– erstwhile I went to the army voluntarily in 1993, the ladies in the army were virtually absent. Now that I'm riding on military units, women have blended into military life so much that there's barely any space left to separate a soldier's man or a soldier's woman, and so the ladies are a 100 percent part of the military environment," says Paweł Mateńczuk, national defence minister's typical for military service.

The Polish army is in line with the wider trend in NATO countries, in which women's participation in the armed forces is increasing

The Polish Army reports that as of March 5, 2025, more than 34 1000 women were in service, including about 21 1000 professional soldiers – about 4,000 more than in March 2024. Additionally, 7.5 1000 are territorial military soldiers, 4,000 are voluntary essential military services and nearly 1.8 1000 are active reserve and candidate services.

According to the NATO study "Summary of National Reports 2022", this trend was reported by 19 associate States, with an average share of 12.7 percent in the alliance countries. For comparison, in 2014, it was 10% of the 70 percent of NATO associate States taking sex position into account in their national education and training programmes.

Most women service in the private corps

– All women who want to tie their future to the army have the opportunity. We have a multum of units that request women, or as medics, or specialized medical personnel, so women are needed in the military and this is simply a continuous process – the CWCR expert convinces.

The largest number of women serves in the Private Corps – about 23,5 thousand, in the Petty Officers' Corps over 6.8 1000 and in the Officers' Corps – over 3.8 1000 women.
